The Jets have reached the final week of training camp and only one preseason contest remains before the 2026 regular season starts. Practices shifted into the afternoon for the Green & White and head coach Aaron Glenn has continued to test the team.
"I think AG does a really good job of challenging us and working us when we're working," S Minkah Fitzpatrick said. "The way our schedule is set up is not to burn us out, it's to make sure we maximize our work time."
Monday was the "hardest practice" for Glenn as a head coach because of all the different situation the Jets went through. Practice concluded with a two-minute end of half situation, which started on the offense's 30-yard line. QB Geno Smith led the first-team unit connecting with WR Garrett Wilson and TE Mason Taylor twice.
"I thought Geno [Smith] did a hell of a job of getting his guys in the end zone," Glenn said. "Excited about that, excited about the direction, we still have a lot of work to do."
Olu Fashanu was called for a false start on the fifth play of the drive, which backed up the offense to the 18-yard line. But on the next play, Smith threaded a pass up the middle right to rookie WR Omar Cooper Jr. for the touchdown.
"I'm not surprised that he made that play at the end. I'm not surprised at the plays that he made in the game, and I know they're limited, but he's made some plays," Glenn said of Cooper. "Man, every day he's just improving. His personality and type of player he is, I mean that's just going to happen anyways because he's not going to be the guy that sits back and not do the things to help himself get better."
Reaching the Backfield
During goal line work and the red zone team period, the defense made its presence felt in the backfield.
Edge Joseph Ossai, who returned to practice last week, is now "full go" according to Aaron Glenn. On Monday, Ossai sacked QB Cade Klubnik and had a TFL on QB Geno Smith's pitch to RB Braelon Allen.
"I think he's a damn good player," Glenn said. "We know there's some things he has got to work on and we will continue to work on those things, but the energy that he brings just being out there, it's good to see him out there and the other guys just feed off that too because of his energy."
In the red zone period, S Andre Cisco took advantage of a gap in the offensive line to charge up the middle and sack Smith. Additionally, LB Jaden Keller and edge Nate Lynn also had sacks during practice.

Competition Continues
The kicking battle continues for Cade York and Jason Sanders. They each had the opportunity to try five field goals from a range of distances between 33 and 53 yards.
York went first in the early kicking window after goal line work and made 3-of-5 attempts. He was wide left from 38 and 43 yards, but his attempt from 53 went right down the middle.
Sanders was 2 of -5 after the red zone period and also missed wide left from 38 and 43 yards and his attempt from 53 was slightly short.
"Both of those guys have been in this league for a while and they've done some good things in this league, so as they continue to go through this competition, at some point we'll pick one of those guys," Glenn said. "Today was just a tough day and it happens."
The wind did gust periodically throughout the afternoon, which made it slightly more difficult for the kickers.
"I wish there were days where they didn't miss any, but that's just not realistic," Glenn said.
