Locked in a tight affair with the Cowboys late in the second quarter Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the Jets turned the ball over in plus-territory and the Cowboys responded with two backbreaking TDs in the final minute of the first half. The Jets (0-5) never recovered and remained winless, losing to Dallas, 37-22.

Trailing by 10-3 with 2:27 remaining in the second stanza, the Jets appeared poised to tie the game. But Breece Hall, who rushed for 78 yards in the first half, had the ball jarred loose by LB Marist Liufau after a 10-yard run and DE Sam Williams recovered for the visitors at the DAL 10. It was the Jets' eighth turnover of the season and resulted in 14-point swing.

"Just a costly fumble for me which is unacceptable," Hall said. "I said it last week that we can't shoot ourselves in the foot."

Despite an illegal motion penalty on first down, Dallas QB Dak Prescott quickly led the visitors 95 yards. A big pass play down the visiting sideline covering 46 yards to Ryan Flournoy set up Dallas inside the red zone and Javonte Williams made it a 17-3 game with a 5-yard rush TD.

The Jets' ensuing drive went three-and-out and the Cowboys got the ball back at their 33 with just :29 seconds on the second quarter clock. Williams broke free for a 66-yard run on a draw and Prescott completed his first half with a 1-yard TD pass to TE Jake Ferguson.

"I thought we had a really good opportunity going into score, get the fumble and it seemed like things went downhill after that," said HC Aaron Glenn. "And that's something we can't let happen. And I look at myself when it comes to that because it seemed like the wind was let out of us in that situation and I have to figure out a way to get our guys going when things like that happen."

Hall turned in his second 100-yard effort this season, amassing 113 yards on just 14 carries. He added 42 yards on 4 receptions including a fourth-down grab that set up Justin Fields' 1-yard TD to FB Andrew Beck.

For the third time in five games, the Jets ended their first possession with a Nick Folk field goal. The Jets moved 66 yards on a 13-play drive which included a Hall 22-yard run and a 16-yard Garrett Wilson reception.

But the Cowboys countered with the game's next 10 points, tying the game with Brandon Aubrey's 35-yard FG and then taking the lead on a perfectly executed screen play from Prescott to Ferguson that covered 26 yards.

CB Sauce Gardner matched up with George Pickens the majority of the game and the explosive receiver was kept quiet early. But the Cowboys padded their second-half lead in the third quarter when Prescott delivered a perfect ball to the vertical threat.

Folk stayed perfect on the season, nailing a 48-yard field-goal attempt. But points were tough to come by early for the Jets on a disappointing afternoon. Fields, who set career highs with 32 completions and 46 pass attempts, threw for 283 yards including a 9-yard scoring toss to Wilson with 1:42 remaining. Often under duress, Fields was sacked 5 times and hit 14 times.

"Adversity does nothing but just make the end story better," Fields said. "And this is just part of our journey. … At the end of the day, there's always light at the end of the tunnel."

Prescott continued his torrid pace, throwing for 4 TD passes for 237 yards. And the Jets were held without a takeaway for a fifth consecutive game.
