This is the first of three stories looking at the Jets' current roster ahead of the March 11 start to the unrestricted free agency signing period. First: the offense.
Quarterbacks
The season began with Justin Fields as the starter and undrafted free agent Brady Cook as the five-game finisher. In between, Fields missed games due to injury and a benching. Tyrod Taylor, who can become a free agent, was limited to 4 starts due to knee and groin injuries. Many expect GM Darren Mougey and his staff to select a quarterback somewhere in the first 44 picks of the late April draft. Bailey Zappe, who's started 9 games, 8 for the Patriots, signed a reserve/future contract.
QB Trivia
The Jets' passing in '25 wasn't had issues. But when the quarterbacks ran the ball, they formed arguably the best QB rushing attack in franchise history. Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook combined for 111 carries, first in a season all-time at the position, for 575 yards, also first. Their 5.18 yards/carry average was seventh-best in the NFL and their 5 rush TDs were tied for fifth. Individually, Fields' 383 yards were second-most by a Jets QB in a season behind only Al Dorow's 453 in the Jets' first season, in 1960 when they were called the Titans. And in Fields' 9 games, his 7.9 carries and 42.6 rush yards/game were both the highest season averages by any QB in franchise history.

Running Backs
The biggest intrigue leading up to the start of the signing period will be the status of Breece Hall — will the Jets try to sign him, will he want to stay for the long term, will the team franchise-tag him, or will he enter the FA market? Hall demonstrated his tenacity and talent during his first 1,000-yard rushing season and several long Breece-ian bursts. His return could reignite talk of the three-headed RB monster, with Braelon Allen returning after his season-ending Week 4 knee injury and Isaiah Davis producing at high levels (5.5 yards/carry, 8.9 yards/catch) on limited touches.
RB Trivia
The three-headed RB monster that the Jets envisioned never really materialized due to Braelon Allen's season-ending MCL injury in Game 4. But Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis were still more than "average." Hall, as we know, nailed his first 1,000-yard rushing season and he also moved into 3rd place on a Jets list of best yards/touch in a season among all RBs with at least 200 touches. His 5.30 average trails only Johnny Johnson's 5.5 in 1993 and Freeman McNeil's 5.4 in 1984. As for Davis, the 2nd-year back averaged 6.59 yards on his 64 touches this season, and his 6.51 figure is the 3rd-best career average among all Jets RBs with at least 100 touchdes, behind only Bruce Harper and Jerald Sowell.

Wide Receivers
The big news will be the return of Garrett Wilson's multiple skills into the Jets' offensive mix after a knee injury cost him the final 8 games of the season and 10 of the last 11. He would be working in a WR group with midseason acquisitions John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell, along with Isaiah Williams, who began contributing offensively in the Week 8 win at Cincinnati, and Arian Smith, who played 16 games as a rookie with modest numbers (7 catches for 52 yards, 4 rushes for 13 yards). Potential UFAs: Josh Reynolds, on IR for the last 10 games, and Tyler Johnson, who had limited production in 12 games. Rookie Quentin Skinner provided a few nice plays in the season finale at Buffalo, his only game.
WR Trivia
Garrett Wilson's knee injury cost him the last 10 games of the season and prevented him from a 4th consecutive season from the start of his career of 80 catches and 1,000 yards. But Wilson still led the Jets with 395 receiving yards and thus in '26 could become the first player to lead the Jets in receiving yards in 5 straight seasons. Another WR worthy of note is Isaiah Williams, not for his 193 yards on 26 receptions but for the fact that those 193 yards lifted him to 1,460 all-purpose yards for the season, 45 yards more than RB Breece Hall and thus the first returner to lead the Jets when they also had a 1,000-yard scrimmage weapon since Joe McKnight edged Shonn Greene for the team APY title in both 2011 and '12.

Tight Ends
Mason Taylor stepped right up as the rookie TE performer, starting in 11 games and catching at least one pass in his 13 games until a neck injury KO'd him for the final 4 games. Jeremy Ruckert remained always available with 17 games played and career highs in starts (15), catches (23), yards (179) and his first pro TD catch in Week 2 vs. Buffalo. Stone Smartt, who provided his 7 receptions all in the last 3 games but contributed solidly on special teams (138 snaps) and Jelani Woods, can both become free agents.
TE Trivia
Mason Taylor made a rookie impact on the offense, with the feeling that he's nowhere near his ceiling as a pass-catching TE. His 44 receptions led all Jets receivers this year, with those catches coming in 13 games before he sat out the rest of the schedule with a neck injury. He is the first Jets TE to lead the team in receptions since Dustin Keller in 2011. And with at least one catch in every game and having come to the Jets in Round 2 with a 28 straight games with a catch at LSU, Taylor has a personal streak of 41 straight games with a catch still working for him. The next tasks for MT in '26: more than 1 TD catch (but a goodie, the GW reception from Breece Hall at Cincinnati) and more than 8.4 yards/catch.

Offensive Line
Things finally came together on the O-line, which weathered just one injury (albeit a big one, Alijah Vera-Tucker's season-ending triceps tear the week before the opener), to keep its unit intact for 17 games. Young bookend tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou and still youthful interior vets Josh Myers at center, signed to an extension late in the year, and Joe Tippmann at guard comprise four-fifths of the unit expected to return. Only LG John Simpson can become a free agent but has said he'd like to return. Backups Max Mitchell and Chukwuma Okorafor can become UFAs.
OL Trivia
The Jets achieved the nearly impossible in the NFL: perfect offensive line starting attendance. The quintet of LT Olu Fashanu, LG John Simpson, C Josh Myers, RG Joe Tippmann and rookie RT Armand Membou were the Green & White's starting 5 O-linemen in every game last season, the only team in the league that could say that. It was also the first time since 2012 that the Jets started the same five in every game. Further, the shatterproof group was on the field not only for 17 games together but for almost all 1,048 offensive plays. The group played 99.2% of those plays together, the greatest participation percentage by Jets O-line since at least 2004, when play counts first became unofficially but widely available.
