Jets Trade QB Justin Fields to Kansas City Chiefs

Green & White Acquire 2027 Sixth-Round Pick

Trade-16x9 12

The Jets have acquired a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for QB Justin Fields.

Fields (6-3, 227) signed with the Jets in March 2025 and started 9 games for the Green & White during the 2025-26 season. He threw for 1,259 yards, 7 TDs and 1 INT, adding 4 rushing scores. Fields was replaced by QB Tyrod Taylor in Week 12 and served as a backup for a game before he was sidelined with a knee injury in Weeks 13-15. Fields was placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 17.

Fields, a first-round selection of the Bears (No. 11 overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft, will join his fourth team after spending the first three seasons of his NFL career in Chicago and the fourth season of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets acquired veteran QB Geno Smith in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last week. QBs Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe are also on the roster.
