WR Thomas Joins P-Squad for Injured Clowney

The New York Jets have placed practice squad WR David Clowney on injured reserve and signed WR Marco Thomas to the practice squad. The announcements were made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Thomas (6'1", 175), originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 8, was waived by the Giants on Aug. 23, was signed to the Raiders practice squad on Nov. 8 and released on Dec. 4. He played in 43 games at Western Illinois, catching 109 passes for 1,691 yards and 11 touchdowns. He earned All-Gateway Conference honors as a senior, recording 58 catches for 738 yards and four touchdowns.

Clowney (6'0", 188) was signed to the Jets practice squad on Oct. 25 after being waived from the active roster on Oct. 23. He was signed by the Jets on Oct. 3 off of Green Bay's practice squad and was inactive for three games before he was waived. He was selected by the Packers in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2007 draft, waived on Sept. 1 and then signed to the Packers practice squad on Sept. 4.
