WR Ball Signed to Active Roster

The New York Jets have signed WR David Ball to the active roster.  The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Ball (6'0", 197) was signed to the Jets' practice squad Nov. 29.  He was originally signed by Chicago as an undrafted rookie free agent April 30, was released by the Bears Sept. 1 and signed to the practice squad Sept. 2, released Sept. 18 and signed Sept. 21, then released again Sept. 24.

Ball, from New Hampshire, is the NCAA Division I-AA record holder for career touchdown receptions (58), surpassing the previous mark held by Mississippi Valley State's Jerry Rice (50).  He finished his collegiate career with 304 catches for 4,655 receiving yards (second all-time, NCAA I-AA) and 23 games with at least 100 receiving yards (tied for first all-time, NCAA I-AA).
