Musa Smith Joins Backfield

The New York Jets have signed free agent running back Musa Smith. The announcement was made today by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Smith (6'0", 232) played in 49 games over five years with the Baltimore Ravens, rushing for 496 yards and four touchdowns on 132 carries while catching 27 passes for 363 yards. He's also returned six kicks for a 22.2 average.

He set career highs last season with 264 yards rushing (75 carries, two touchdowns) and 192 yards receiving on 27 receptions.

Smith was a third-round pick for the Ravens (77th overall) out of Georgia in the 2003 NFL Draft.
