The Jets signed WR Isaiah Williams to the active roster and activated LB Ja’Markis Weston from the reserve list on Saturday, and elevated CB Korie Black and LB Jackson Sirmon for Sunday's game vs. the Carolina Panthers. The team also released LB Mark Robinson.
Williams (5-10, 185) has appeared in four games this season, returning 5 punts for 61 yards (10.2 per) and 5 kickoffs for 129 yards (25.8 per). A practice squad elevation last week, Williams (5-10, 185) initially joined the Green & White on Sept. 10 after a stint on the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad. The Illinois product initially signed with Detroit in 2024 as an undrafted free agent. Williams played in 8 games -- 2 with Detroit and 6 with Cincinnati -- during the 2024 season.
The Jets opened the 21-day practice window on Weston on Oct. 8. The athletic 6-2, 235-pounder, who was a full participant at practice this week, was signed as an undrafted free agent after 6 versatile seasons at Florida. Weston was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return on Aug. 26. He played 60 preseason snaps (33 defense, 27 special teams) and had a ST fumble recovery deep in Packers territory that led to a field goal in the Jets' 30-10 win in their preseason opener at Green Bay.
Black (6-0, 192) was previously elevated prior to the Jets' 30-10 Week 2 loss to the Bills. A seventh-round pick (No. 246 overall) of the Giants in last April's NFL Draft, Black played 62 games at Oklahoma State and recorded 100 tackles, 25 PD, 4 INT, 3 FR and 2 FF. As a super senior in 2024, Black totaled 36 tackles, 12 PDs and 3 INT.
Sirmon (6-2, 240) was signed to the Jets' practice squad on Aug. 27. He had 3 tackles (2 on special teams) and 2 PDs in exhibition action. Sirmon, who initially signed with the Green & White as an undrafted free agent out of Cal in May 2024, took 78 snaps last preseason. He played in 51 games (34 starts) over his 6 college seasons – 4 at Washington and 2 at Cal.
Robinson (5-11, 235), a fourth-year veteran from Mississippi, played 3 games with the Jets after joining the club on Sept. 23 and was credited with 2 special teams stops. A member of the Patriots' practice squad who was elevated for all 3 games this season, Robinson also recorded 3 special teams tackles. A seventh-round pick (No. 225 overall) of the Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft, Robinson, an Ole Miss product, has appeared in 41 games (4 starts) and recorded 48 tackles. Robinson was on the field for 67% (302 plays) and 66% (301 plays) of Pittsburgh's special teams snaps in 2023-24. In New England this season, he participated in 50% (37 plays) of the plays on special teams.
