The Jets have acquired a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for DT Derrick Nnadi and a seventh-round pick in 2027. The deal won't be complete until Nnadi passes his physical.
Nnadi (6-1, 317), entering his eight NFL season, signed with the Jets on March 18. He had 5 tackles in preseason play.
The Florida State product will return to the team that selected him in the third round (No. 75 overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft and where he called home until last spring.
In his seven seasons with the Chiefs, Nnadi played 3,063 defensive snaps in 115 games (87 starts) and had 233 tackles, five sacks and one career interception, which he notched in 2019 in a win at the L.A. Chargers. He added 38 tackles and a sack in 18 postseason games (12 starts).
GM Darren Mougey went the trade route to acquire DTs Jowon Briggs (CLV) and Harrison Philips (MIN) on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21, respectively.
