Jets, Third-Rounder Greene Reach Agreement

The New York Jets have reached agreement with running back Shonn Greene, their third-round choice (65th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Greene (5'11", 235), Iowa's first consensus All-America running back since 1939, rushed for 2,228 yards (5.9 average) and 22 touchdowns and added 72 yards on 11 receptions in 33 games. In 2008 he posted school records of 1,850 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns, rushing for at least 100 yards in all 13 games, a Big Ten record.

In addition to being honored as an All-American in 2008, Greene won the Doak Walker Award and the award as Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award.
