The Jets have signed WR Vyncint Smith off the Texans' practice squad and released QB David Fales

The second-year wideout originally signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The Limestone product played in seven games (one start) last season, totaling five receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown. The 6'3", 202-pounder spent the summer with Houston before he was waived Aug. 31 and re-signed to the Texans' practice squad the following day.

In 40 collegiate games, Smith reeled in 153 receptions, 2,371 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Jets signed Fales Sept. 18 when the team placed Trevor Siemian on injured reserve. The fifth-year player was drafted by the Bears in 2015 before spending time with the Dolphins (2017-18) and Lions (2019). In three career games, Fales has completed 64.6% of his passes for 287 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
