The New York Jets announce their 2006 practice squad. Added to the squad were wide receivers Sloan Thomas and Dante Ridgeway, tight end Joe Kowalewski, offensive linemen Isaac Snell and Ed Blanton, fullback Stacy Tutt, defensive lineman Matt McChesney and safety Jamie Thompson. The announcements were made by Jets' General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Thomas was claimed by the Jets off waivers from Tennessee on July 31st. Last season, he appeared in one game for the Titans, recording two special teams tackles.

Ridgeway was originally a sixth-round selection of St. Louis. Now in his second season, he was claimed off waivers by the Jets after last season's roster cut-downs. In seven games for the Jets, Ridgeway had two receptions for 26 yards and two special teams tackles.

Kowalewski, an undrafted free agent, is entering his rookie season out of the University of Syracuse. After switching from defensive end early in his college career, Kowalewski totaled 33 receptions for 441 yards.

Snell spent last season with the Jets but did not play in the two games he was listed as active.

Blanton, an undrafted free agent out of UCLA, started the Jets preseason finale at right tackle.

Tutt, a former quarterback out of the University of Richmond, saw time in all four preseason contests, gaining six yards on one reception.

McChesney, originally an undrafted free agent by St. Louis, was signed to the Jets' practice squad last season and saw action in three contests, recording three solo tackles.

Thompson was an undrafted free agent by the Jets out of Oklahoma State. He started the final game of the preseason, recording two tackles in the contest.
