The Jets have elevated WRs Brandon Smith and WR Isaiah Williams to the active roster for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The team also downgraded LB Ja’Markis Weston to out for the contest.
Smith (6-1, 218) led the team with 10 catches during the 2025 preseason for 113 yards. Last season, Smith, who signed a reserve/futures contract with the Jets in January, was elevated to the active roster for a Week 15 contest against the Jaguars. Smith previously played with the D.C. Defenders of the UFL where he had 18 catches, 208 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Iowa product also spent time on the Cowboys' and Cardinals' rosters, but he did not appear in any regular season games.
The Jets signed Williams (5-10, 185) to the practice squad last Monday after he was waived on Oct. 4. Williams (5-10, 185) joined the Green & White on Sept. 10 after a stint on the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad. He has appeared in 3 games for the Jets this season, returning 2 punts for 29 yards and 3 kicks for 70 yards. The Illinois product initially signed with Detroit in 2024 as an undrafted free agent. Williams played in 8 games -- 2 with Detroit and 6 with Cincinnati -- during the 2024 season.
The Jets opened the 21-day practice window on Weston earlier this week. The athletic 6-2, 235-pounder, who is dealing with a groin injury, was signed as an undrafted free agent after six versatile seasons at Florida. Weston was placed on Injured Reserve with a designation to return on Aug. 26. He played 60 preseason snaps (33 defense, 27 special teams) and turned in a ST fumble recovery deep in Packers territory that led to a field goal in the Jets' 30-10 win in their preseason opener at Green Bay.
