
The Jets have agreed to terms of a trade to acquire WR John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for CB Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick, pending physicals.
Metchie (6-0, 195), a third-year pro from Alabama, has appeared in four games this season and has 4 receptions.
A second-round pick (No. 44 overall) by the Houston Texans in 2022, Metchie missed his rookie season after being diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). He played in 29 games with the Texans in 2023-24, hauling in 40 receptions for 412 yards (10.3 per) with 1 TD. Metchie, who starred collegiately with the Crimson Tide from 2019-21 while amassing 155 receptions for 2,081 yards and 14 touchdowns, was traded to Philadelphia last August.
Carter, a fifth-round pick (No. 154 overall) of the Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft, appeared in 65 games with the Green & White and had 223 tackles, 26 PDs,10 TFL, 3 FR and 1 FF. He lined up in five games this season with 4 starts, registering 14 tackles.
