The New York Jets announced Tuesday they have signed defensive end Eric Hicks to a contract and released defensive lineman Keyonta Marshall. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Hicks originally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1998 as a rookie free agent out of Maryland. Now entering his 10th season in the NFL, Hicks has appeared in 128 games, making 104 starts.

In nine seasons with the Chiefs, Hicks recorded 574 tackles and ranks fifth on the Chiefs' all-time sack list with 44.5.
