Davis Added to Practice Squad, Cook Released

The New York Jets have signed free agent fullback Jason Davis to the practice squad and released safety Emanuel Cook from the practice squad. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Davis (5'10", 242) was released by the Jets on Tuesday after being claimed off waivers from Chicago on Sunday. He split time in 2008 between Chicago and Oakland, playing in six games with three starts. He caught one pass for 12 yards and recorded one carry for no gain for the Bears.

He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Philadelphia in 2006 and spent that season on injured reserve and 2007 on the Eagles practice squad before he was waived after training camp in 2008.

Cook (5'10", 185) signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 1. He was waived by the Jets on Saturday and signed to the practice squad on Tuesday.
