Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson is not going to let a shoulder injury keep him out of the lineup.

"I'm going to play through it," said Wilkerson, who did not practice Wednesday. I'm going to do whatever I can for my brothers out there. I want to be out there."

As for the nature of the injury, the seven-year vet said, "They said it's a Grade 1 AC joint sprain, so I do rehab and treatment every day and hope it gets better."

Wilkerson believes he'll most likely play with throughout the season, but said it's something that comes with the business. When asked if he'd benefit from a week of rest, he responded, "Yeah. The bye week."

While the bye week comes in the middle of November, the 27-year-old doesn't believe his shoulder will affect his play.

"I thought I did a good job on Sunday," he said. "So I'm not going to out there and be worried about it. I'm going to go out there and do my job."

Wilkerson played in 62% of defensive plays against the Dolphins, but head coach Todd Bowles said his limited snaps were not a result of injury.

"We got ahead and had some pass rush," Bowles said. "It was hot first of all, so we tried to rotate a lot of guys in there and that was basically what we were trying to do the whole game."

Injury Update
Running back Matt Forte did not practice Wednesday due to turf toe, an injury he suffered on a goal-line run against the Dolphins. With Forté's status in doubt, the Green & White signed former Saints RB-KR Travaris Cadet.

"Good receiver out of the backfield," Bowles said of Cadet. "Obviously, he can run the ball. Very good on third down. He's a change of pace back and can return kicks."

The Jets placed second-year wide receiver Charone Peake on Injured Reserve with a high ankle sprain, but he could return in a few weeks.

Right tackle Brandon Shell has a bruised shoulder and did not practice. If Shell can't suit up against the Jaguars on Sunday, Ben Ijalana or Brent Qvale will start in his place.

Other players who did not practice included TE Jordan Leggett (knee), OLB Josh Martin (ankle) and DE Kony Ealy (excused). Right guard Brian Winters (abdomen), TE Eric Tomlinson (elbow) and DL Leonard Williams (wrist) were all limited.
