Tuesday Player Interviews (8/28)

Transcripts of interviews with selected Jets players during Tuesday's locker room media period:

QB MARQUES TUIASOSOPO

On the final preseason game ...

When they tell me to go in, I'll be ready to go. I'll play hard and do the things that will hopefully be good for me to showcase what I can do to operate this offense.

On whether he feels he's gotten a fair chance to prove himself …

With the reps I've had in practice and in games, I think I've shown that I am capable of operating this offense. The things that didn't go well, I've learned from. I've come back and shown that they can trust me with the offense. There are still things I'm trying to grab a hold of, but I feel really good in this offense right now. Not where I will be. I feel like I control what I do when I get opportunities. I'm prepared for every game and I will go out and play hard. Those are things that I worry about.

On whether he feels like this game is make or break for him …

Anytime we go out and play, I feel like it is a great opportunity to showcase what I can do and how I can help this team. Whether it was the last game, two games before that or this upcoming game, they are all important.

QB BRAD SMITH

On the benefits of lining up at quarterback …

It helps in understanding the big picture, what everyone is doing and how each spot fits into the whole plan. Understanding the plan and all the protections has been a great help to me and I'm still picking up more and more every day. It has helped me a lot as a football player.

On whether he expects to see snaps at QB during the season …

I never really look at those kind of things. I do whatever I have to do. That's the way I have always been.

On returning kicks …

That is definitely new to me, but we've worked on it throughout the whole off-season. It's fun having the ball, being able to go out and run around with it and try to put points on the board and make plays.

QB KELLEN CLEMENS

On the final preseason game …

This is a big game. This will be the last chance that I know I have a pretty good chance of playing. You want to go out there, hopefully finish strong and put on a good showing.

On whether he feels like he has locked up the backup QB position …

That is based on Coach's evaluation and what he thinks. Right now, I think offensively, the second group has moved the ball and scored some points, but we still have some things to tighten up. Hopefully, we can finish it off.

On his successful preseason …

We worked hard this off-season and right now it's real nice to see all of that hard work showing up on tape.

On his second year in the NFL …

It's definitely a lot easier being in my second year right now. We had a lot of time in the off-season to work and get more comfortable in the offense. Things are fortunately coming together for us. The game is slowing down at this point, as it should. In your second year. Things should become more clear.

DB DARRELLE REVIS

On adjusting to the NFL …

The mental aspect is tough. Coaches want you in the playbook and watching film every day. It's not like in college where you have classes and then practice. It's a job, it's an everyday thing and you have to work hard.

On the final preseason game …

It's very important. I don't want to go out there and make any mistakes, mental errors. I want to just go out there, compete and play with my teammates.

On being a rookie …

This whole year is going to be a learning curve for me. I'm a rookie and I'm still young. This whole year is going to be a whirlwind and I have to be patient, be focused and be a teammate first.
