Transcripts of selected interviews with Jets players during locker room media availability before Thursday's midday practice:

DT KRIS JENKINS

On facing LaDainian Tomlinson …

I did get a sneak peak at Tomlinson at the Pro Bowl so I know how fast he can hit holes. Watching Darren Sproles, he reminds me of watching Dave Meggett. I didn't get to play against Meggett, but I watched film on him back in the day when they used to have NFL Films. Tomlinson is a heck of an athlete. They have a lot of weapons. We have to be ready for it.

On everyone saying the Chargers need a win…

No, I don't look at it like that regardless of whatever is said or whatever the hype is. It's going to be a football game and that is one thing that is guaranteed. I don't put a spin on it. Other people might but for me that's not my job. I go play.

On how he occupies his time on the long flight to San Diego…

Honestly, whatever you can find time to do. Hopefully you can sleep through it. If you can sleep through the flight, it's good. Half the time you might be able to sleep a little bit. Half the time you can watch a movie. Half the time you are just trying to crack jokes. You look out the window wondering why you are up so high and everything looks so small. There are a lot of different things that go through your head. You have a lot of time to do nothing. It's fun and at least we get to head out there early to stretch our legs and get over the jet lag.

LB CALVIN PACE

On the Chargers' offensive weapons…

They definitely have a lot of weapons. You are talking about Antonio Gates, Chris Chambers, Darren Sproles and Vincent Jackson, who is having a good year. They had a fullback who had a big game last week. It's one of those things where you have to be on your Ps and Qs. You have to know who is on the field.

On getting pressure on Phillip Rivers…

You definitely can't let Rivers sit back, be comfortable and have all day to throw. He's a smart guy. He's going to take what you give him and he's capable of making the big throw down the field. It's about disrupting him and the offense in time.

On if there is a feeling that the Jets have come back…

Yes, we are definitely off of that loss and we are trying to put some good practices together. We are getting ready to make that trip to the West Coast and go out there and play our game.

On if he thinks the Chargers are desperate for a win…

No, they very easily could be 2-0. They put up a lot of points. They just haven't had the ball bounce their way. A lot of teams have been through that. I think they went through it last year and they strung together five wins in a row. They are definitely capable of putting some wins together.

P REGGIE HODGES

On if his hangtime impressed the Jets…

I don't know what impressed them. I try to hit the ball hard and hit it high to give the coverage unit lots of time to make plays. The net is my goal, not gross punts.

On if he can placekick...

I did it in high school and that was it. I haven't kicked off or kicked field goals since high school. I remember how to do it. I did it after work the other day as an emergency measure, I made a field goal and kicked off decently, but those are things to get us through a game if a disaster happened.

On how excited he is for the opportunity…

This is the stage here in New York. I want to do well and help the team win.

On what the last three years has been like since he last punted in a regular-season game…

It's been a lot of growing for me as a person and as a punter. It sometimes takes guys a while to figure out how to consistently punt at a high level and I was one of those guys. I am still learning, but I am to a point where coaches are feeling more comfortable with my technique and the things I can do.

On his first game as a Jet coming on Monday night…

That's good. It's nothing to be worried about. It's something you relish. You want to be on the stage and show what you can do to help the team. I am excited about it.
