Jets starting linebacker Darron Lee changed his number from 50 to 58 one week before he will report to 1 Jets Drive for his second training camp.

The reasoning?

"It's just all of my numbers in my lifetime added up," he told me.

Lee wore No. 8 from the first time he buckled his chinstrap in pop warner to middle school. During his playing days at New Albany HS, the 6'1", 232-pounder wore No. 2 as a freshman and No. 5 his junior year before he switched back to No. 8 senior year. Lastly, of course, the Ohio State product wore No. 43 for the Buckeyes.

When the Jets drafted Lee last year, LB Erin Henderson already wore No. 58. This year, LB Spencer Paysinger, who signed with the Green & White on Jun. 9, wore the number throughout minicamp, but will now share No. 49 with rookie TE Jordan Leggett.
