Voters on NFL.com have made their choice: Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played from Sept. 10-14, the NFL announced today.

Sanchez recorded the third-most passing yards in NFL history for a rookie in Week 1 with 272 yards, completing 18 of 31 passes with one touchdown and one interception for a passer rating of 84.3, in the Jets' 24-7 win over the Houston Texans. He led a Jets offense that gained 462 yards and controlled the ball for nearly 39 minutes.

Sanchez was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists were WR Kenny Britt of the Tennessee Titans, WR Percy Harvin of the Minnesota Vikings, WR Louis Murphy of the Oakland Raiders and tackle Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a news conference at Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida.

This is Pepsi's eighth year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the fifth year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.
