Past, Present Jets to Relive Memories of an Era

The Jets today announced plans to pay tribute to the 26 years that the team has played in the current Meadowlands stadium at Sunday night's home game against the Cincinnati Bengals — the final regular-season game ever played in the building.

The Jets will say goodbye to an era with players who played from 1984-2009. Each season will be represented by at least one Jets player from that year's team at halftime. A video of highlights will take fans and players alike back through the history of Jets football at the Meadowlands.

"This is a great moment for the Jets organization," said Marty Lyons, long-time Jets defensive tackle and now radio color commentator for the team, who is scheduled to address the crowd at halftime Sunday. "We made a lot of great memories at this place, but we're really excited about the future of this team, the new stadium and all the great things that will happen there, too."

The Jets-Bengals Week 17 contest will kick off at 8:20 p.m. EST and will be broadcast nationally by NBC. The 8-7 Jets need one more victory to earn a playoff berth as the AFC's fifth seed. The Jets will begin playing home games in 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium, just northeast of the current stadium location.
