Monday Player Interviews (9/10)

Transcripts of interviews with selected Jets during the locker room media period Monday afternoon:

QB KELLEN CLEMENS

On his preparation for Baltimore …

Each week I should prepare the same. I prepare like I'm going to play, so if my number is called I'm in the best situation to help the team win. I'm going to prepare as best as I can and try to be as ready as possible.

On his comfort level with the offense …

It is my second year in the offense and I had a chance to get some live bullets this week, so I'm going to go in there and do the best that I can.

On the Ravens defense …

You are not going to play too many that are better than New England, but Baltimore is a very sound defense. They are at the top of most statistical categories, so they demand a lot of respect. We feel comfortable with our offense and we are going to go out there and do the best that we can.

On whether his preseason performance has served as a confidence boost …

That is definitely a positive. If your number is called and you have some positive snaps behind you, whether in the preseason or not, it definitely helps the confidence of a guy like me because I haven't played a lot in the regular season. It's a positive for me.

WR JERRICHO COTCHERY

On Kellen Clemens ...

When someone goes down, you have to be willing to come in and pick up where the starter left off. Kellen has prepared the way he has had to prepare for the entire off-eason. I wouldn't expect a dropoff, like I wouldn't expect a dropoff from any other guy. We won't have to make any adjustments as receivers.

On Chad Pennington ...

He's still around. It's not like we are sending him away if he can't play. He is still going to be around. If Kellen has to come in, we will have to go with him. That is why our attendance is so good in the off-season. We have a lot of guys participating in the off-season program. We see guys consistently working hard during the off-season because you gain your respect then. When it is time to come in, the respect factor is already there. We are going to continue to work hard each and every day, and I know Chad is going to do what he has to do to get back on the field.

On losing to the Patriots …

You have to move on, but you have to realize the things that you did wrong during the game and the things that you have to get better at. After watching the film today, we are just anxious to get back to work Wednesday and continue the maturation process.

DE SHAUN ELLIS

On losing to the Patriots …

We have to keep practicing and focusing and try to get this win coming up next week. This game is behind us. We are just looking forward to Baltimore right now.

On the Patriots offense …

They do a great job. [Tom] Brady is a great quarterback. The offense is good all the way around. There is not a weak spot on that offense. They do a great job of executing what they do. The weapons they added made it that much more powerful.
