Mike Goodson Indicted on Weapons Charges

Running back Mike Goodson was indicted Thursday on weapons charges stemming from a traffic stop on Route 80 in the spring.

The indictments, announced by the Morris County (NJ) prosecutor's office, come after Goodson and Roselle resident Garant Evans were discovered by police in Denville early the morning of May 17 in a car stopped on I-80. Police said they recovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun and a hollow-point bullet.

Both face a count each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of prohibited weapons and devices, and Evans also faces another weapons count. Goodson's attorney told The Associated Press that his client will be exonerated.

Goodson sat out the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's drug policy. Then after playing in the games at Atlanta and against Pittsburgh, he suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Steelers.
