LB Maybin Returns to Jets Active Roster

The New York Jets have signed linebacker Aaron Maybin to the active roster and linebacker Eddie Jones to the practice squad. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Maybin (6'4", 240) was signed by the Jets on Aug. 17 and was waived Sept. 4. He was selected by Buffalo in the first round (11th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He had 23 total tackles, two tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry in two seasons with the Bills, for whom he played in 27 games.

At Penn State, Maybin recorded 16 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, 61 tackles and four forced fumbles in 26 games (10 starts).  As a redshirt sophomore in 2008, he registered 12 sacks and was one of three finalists for the Bednarik Award.

Jones (6'3", 260) joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent Aug. 8 and was waived Sept. 3. He saw action in 50 games at Texas, starting eight, and totaled 111 tackles and 13 sacks during his career. He was named All-Big 12 honorable mention as a senior in 2010 after he notched 52 tackles, six sacks, 10 tackles for loss and one forced fumble. He was an All-American at Kilgore (Texas) High School and participated in the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
