The Jets are proud to support the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) because it is one of the nation's premier voluntary health organizations. The New York Jets are focused on winning football games; the ALR is focused on winning the fight against lupus! Together, we can find a cure.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which an individual's immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissue. These attacks can cause life-threatening damage to major organs such as the kidneys, lungs, heart and central nervous system. Women are much more likely to get lupus than men, and lupus is the leading cause of death among women with autoimmune diseases who are in their childbearing years (15 -45).

Another major reason that the Jets are pleased to support the Alliance for Lupus Research is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the walk go where they are needed most: directly toward funding research into the prevention, treatment and cure of lupus.
