The Jets have signed linebacker Neville Hewitt.

Originally an undrafted free agent out of Marshall, Hewitt signed with Miami following the 2015 Draft and played in 16 games (two starts) for the Dolphins. The 6'2", 234-pounder has totaled 104 tackles, one sack, four pass defenses and one interception for his career. Last season, the fourth-year veteran split time on the Dolphins' practice squad and active roster. Hewitt also played special teams in South Florida as he recorded seven ST tackles in '15.

In two collegiate seasons, Hewitt recorded 208 tackles, 16.5 for loss, 7.5 sacks, two picks and four PDs in two seasons for the Thundering Herd. The 24-year-old won Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year honors as voted by league coaches as a senior. Prior to Marshall, Hewitt played at Georgia Military College, where he played as a hybrid safety/linebacker.
