The Jets have released veteran S Marcus Gilchrist and waived both CB Nick Marshall and FB Chris Swain.

After spending his first four pro seasons with the Chargers playing both corner and safety, Gilchrist signed with the Jets on March 18, 2015.  He appeared in 29 games for the Green & White at safety, registering five interceptions and 10 passes defended. The 28-year-old, who tallied 55 tackles in 2016, headed to injured reserve last December after injuring his right knee in the third quarter of the Jets' Week 14 win at San Francisco.

The team originally acquired Marshall from the Jaguars' practice squad in October and he appeared in eight games last* *season, playing both defense and special teams. Swain was originally added to the Jets' practice squad on Dec. 8 and later signed a reserve/future deal on Jan. 2.
