Jets Announce New Smartphone App

The Jets announced today a new way for fans to keep up with the team, players and the 2011 Jets season with the launch of the team's new smartphone app. The New York Jets Official App will enhance the gameday and year-round experience for Jets fans at MetLife Stadium, at home or on the go.

"Our goal is to give fans the best experience possible whenever they interact with the team," said Thad Sheely, the Jets' executive vice president of finance and stadium development. "The New York Jets Official App is another way for fans to engage with us and be a part of the action 24/7."

The New York Jets Official App gives fans access to real-time team news, player statistics, injury reports, depth charts, standings, team schedule, scores, game statistics, fantasy tracker, team video and photo galleries.

In addition, the app links fans to the team's social media community on Facebook and Twitter, featuring one-click tweeting and Facebook posting. Via the app on gameday, fans can easily join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #jetsgameday. They can also easily keep up with the @nyjets Twitter account as well as Jets players and staff.

The team launched this version of the app in time for the regular season but plans to roll out upgrades, improvements and new features of the app throughout the season.

Fans can download the New York Jets Official App to their smartphones by texting the word JETS to 51288 or by searching "Official New York Jets" on iTunes, Android Market or Blackberry App World.

Note:The app runs on iPhones and iPods running iOS 4.0 or higher, Android devices running Android 1.6 or higher, and Blackberry Bold 9650, 9700 and 9780. The New York Jets Official App was developed in partnership with leading sports team app developer Yinzcam Inc.
