Jets Add Two Free Agents, Release Two

The New York Jets have signed free agent long snapper Pat Scales and tackle Jeffrey Shugarts and have released wide receiver Thomas Mayo and tackle Mark Popek.

Scales (6'4", 248 / Utah State / North Ogden, UT) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens following the 2011 NFL Draft.

Shugarts (6'6", 299 / Ohio State / Klein, TX) spent the 2012 season on the Browns' and Bills' practice squads after signing with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He was a three-year starter at right tackle for Ohio State.

Mayo (6'2", 205 / California (PA) / Reston, VA) signed with the Jets in 2013 after spending 2012 training camp with the Oakland Raiders.

Popek (6'7", 308 / South Florida / Plant City, FL) joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft.
