Get Set, L.I. Fans and Families, for the Jets

Long Island, here come the Jets, and the whole family is invited.

The Green & White called Hofstra University home for four decades, and on Thursday, Aug. 25, they return to their roots for 2011 Family Night at New York Jets Training Camp.

Fans and families can all come out to watch the Jets conduct their last open practice of training camp at James H. Shuart Stadium. Parking and admission are free and the gates will open at 4 p.m. Jets Fest, the team's interactive theme park for kids, and Jets Shop also will open at 4.

One of the attractions of Family Night will be a random drawing to win a VIP Experience at the Jets-Dolphins on Monday night, Oct. 17, at New Meadowlands Stadium, which is also the night that the second Jets Ring of Honor class will be unveiled.

The experience includes four club tickets and one parking pass for the game. Fans can drop off their business cards or fill out cards at the client relations table for a chance to win this exciting package. The winner will be selected and announced over the stadium's public address system during practice.

The evening's big attraction, of course, is the Jets. For the third straight year the players will participate in a training camp practice at Shuart Stadium, across Hempstead Turnpike from the team's former base of operations, known through 2008 as Weeb Ewbank Hall. (The stadium's official address is 900 Fulton Ave., Hempstead, NY, 11550.)

See your favorite players, new Jets and long-tenured veterans, go through individual drills, 7-on-7's and full team periods as they get ready for the start of the 2011 season on Sept. 11 at New Meadowlands Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys.

It's a night for the Jets and Long Island to reunite again. Don't miss it.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the New York Jets have cancelled today's practice at Hofstra University. The team will return in 2012 for its annual training camp practice in Long Island.
