Geno Smith Named AFC Offensive Player of Week

Add to Geno Smith's accolades this week the NFL's AFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

The Jets rookie quarterback received that honor this morning for his 16-for-20, 199-yard, three-touchdowns, no-turnovers line in the Jets' 30-28 triumph over the Falcons in Atlanta on Monday night.

Smith is the second Jet to win one of the league's weekly awards this season, following Nick Folk's AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award after the Week 1 win over Tampa Bay.

Smith also is the Jets' first offensive player to win this award since QB Mark Sanchez and RB LaDainian Tomlinson each received it in 2010. And Geno is the first Jets rookie to take in this weekly honor since 1997, when Leon Johnson received a AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

On Tuesday Smith was nominated for two NFL sponsored awards that fans can vote on until Friday: the***Pepsi Next NFL Rookie of the Week** and the **GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week**.*
