The Jets (0-5) fell to the Dallas Cowboys (2-2-1), 37-22, at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Here are three takeaways from the game.
Fields Throws for Season-High 283 Yards
QB Justin Fields completed 32-of-46 passes for a season-high 283 yards in Sunday's loss. His 100.2 passer rating was boosted by 2 touchdown passes to FB Andrew Beck and WR Garrett Wilson in the fourth quarter. He also connected with TE Mason Taylor and WR Josh Reynolds on the ensuing 2-point conversion attempts.
Fields led a scoring drive leading to a field goal on the Jets' opening possession for the second consecutive game, as K Nick Folk converted from 25 yards out. The 66-yard drive gave the Jets an early 3-0 lead, but Fields acknowledged the need to capitalize on opportunities to find the end zone.
"Not perfect," Fields said of his play Sunday. "Things to get better at, but that's everybody. … We want 7 in the red zone. But there's always room to improve for me and my play and I'm always going to say that."
Rookie TE Mason Taylor Continues to Carve Out Role
WR Garrett Wilson was his reliable self on Sunday, leading the team in receiving yards (71) for the fifth consecutive week.
But it was rookie TE Mason Taylor who continued to carve out his role in the Jets' offense, emerged a popular target for QB Justin Fields in the loss. Taylor recorded a career-high 9 receptions for 67 yards, including a 2-point conversion reception in the fourth quarter.
Taylor has now recorded career-highs in three consecutive games. In Week 3, he caught 4 passes for 18 yards, and he followed up the performance with 5 receptions for 65 yards in Week 4. The rookie has 20 total receptions for 175 yards this season.

Khalil Herbert and Avery Williams Take on Return Duties
RBs Khalil Herbert and Avery Williams both joined the Jets last week, but neither shied away from the opportunity to take the field for their first game with the Green & White.
Herbert -- who was signed to the active roster Thursday -- saw action immediately when he returned the opening kickoff for 22 yards.
"I'm always ready," Herbert said. "… It's definitely valuable, just getting back into the speed of things and playing ball.
"I'm just looking to try to help the team win any way I can."
Williams was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's game after being signed to the practice squad Friday. He returned 4 punts for 41 yards, averaging 10.3 yards per return, and 5 kicks for 133 yards, averaging 26.6 yards per return.
