TEBOW: Niners Will Definitely Be Physical

Transcript of quarterback Tim Tebow's news conference at his locker following the Jets' Wednesday afternoon practice at the Atlantic Health Training Center:

On the challenges the 49ers present this week…

They're a great defense and they have a great team, a lot of big-time players, a great scheme, great special teams, a very efficient offense and a great defense. So for us, I feel like we have a great plan, we have to execute and play for 60 minutes.

On the possibility of the real officials returning Sunday.…

We have to play with whoever is out there and we're not going to let that bother us, no matter who it is. We're not going to worry about what we can't control and that's our mindset.

On if it's a relief that the real officials may return…

I don't think so. For me, that's something we can't control, we can't worry about. We just have to go out there and play to the best of our ability and not worry who is out there.

On if he watched the game on Monday night…

I did. I got to see some of it, yeah.

On his reaction to the game Monday night…

I think you can see it both ways. I think, throughout the game, calls were being made on both sides. You can definitely see it from the Packers' point of view, but then I don't know exactly the rule. I guess it's a tough situation, but you just have to try to deal with it the best you can.

On Joe McKnight…

Joe's very talented and he is someone that is a playmaker, I think he showed that in practice today, I think he had three interceptions. That's good for him, he's playing in a position I think he feels comfortable at. I think he'll be able to adjust and have a chance to be a big-time corner.

On the Vikings' success with the run against the 49ers last week…

I think both made some big plays and they did some things well. They stayed patient throughout the game. Every now and then, they'd find a big play and I think that was key. So for us, it's just being patient, finding ways to move the chains and staying on the field.

On if his role will expand on Sunday…

I'm not sure. I'm just trying to get through practice every day and improve in that. We'll see what happens on Sunday.

On if he expected the Wildcat to be used more…

I didn't know exactly what to expect. I'm just trying to be ready anytime my number is called and find a way to help the team.

On if he has a feeling that the real officials will return Sunday…

I don't have a feeling. I really don't know anything about it. We're just trying to handle it as best we can with whoever's out there, and not let that affect how we play or any of our emotions. That's something we can't control and we know as a team that's something we can't worry about.

On what to expect from the physical play of the 49ers…

Yeah, they'll definitely be physical. They have a bunch of great players and hats off to them and their coach and all their players for the success they've had over the last few years. We know they'll come in and be competitive and play hard and be physical and be well-coached.

On the challenges of playing a team that they don't play often…

I think you get to know players more when you play against them, so I think that's one thing. I think coaches know coaches, they coach against them for awhile. I feel like our coaches know their coaches really well, and probably vice versa. They've coached together at different places. I think they're a great team, they have a lot of great players, they're coached really well, you don't see them out of position, you don't see them missing plays, you don't see them missing tackles. They do what they're supposed to do and they do it well, and that's why they've been very successful.

On if any teammates said anything about him getting hit in the helmet with the ball last game…

No, not really. No one said anything.

On if his teammates said more about the Vogue article than getting hit in the helmet…

Probably, yeah [laughter].

On how he stays optimistic…

Well, we're coming off a pretty fun win, so that's definitely good. You want to play the best and that's exciting to get an opportunity to do. We're playing some of the best these coming weeks and we're looking forward to the challenge.
