CB Dwight Lowery explodes from the starting blocks.

Transcripts of interviews with Jets players in the locker room after this morning's workout at the rookie minicamp:

TE DUSTIN KELLER

On if he was surprised by the fans' reaction after getting drafted …

No, not really, because I think I have a name that wasn't known very much. It was something where after the combine I moved up, so people will learn and know about me later. It was something that I was kind of expecting if I was going to go in the first round, but it didn't surprise me.

On getting the phonecall from the Jets …

The feeling was unexplainable. I really didn't hear any of the fans when I got the call because right after the call, they announced my name and my family was extra loud. It was just when my brothers made me sit down and watch it again I was like, "Woah, OK." It was really cool.

On whether he thought about which teams he would fit best on …

I really didn't look into that too much. My thinking going in was to perform my best at the combine and do really well in my individual workouts and pro day, then to impress the coaches on my team visits, and then whatever happened happened. I was happy with all the work that I put in. Wherever I went, that's who wants me the most.

On transitioning to New York …

I've been nowhere except in the football facilities and I don't know too much about it yet. Hopefully, I'll get downtown, just see a few things and I'll be able to tell you about that later on.

QB ERIK AINGE

On comparing him to Peyton Manning while he was at Tennessee …

I think it's like that for any sport, any position. If there's a great shooting guard that goes to Chicago, they're going to compare him to Jordan, and that's a tough comparison for anybody. There won't ever be another Michael Jordan or Peyton Manning. Everybody is different and unique. It is a matter of finding out what your niche is and what you're good at and just working really hard.

On what day at minicamp is harder, day one or day two …

Day one. I think day one is harder, because you just don't know what you're in for. You're all kind of sitting around and waiting, because none of us knew anything about the NFL and the New York Jets when we got here. To get those practices, to go and practice and then go to meetings, take notes and listen to Coach Mangini talk, you take all of that information and you come out today and everything makes a little more sense. There's a lot more information, but it makes more sense.

RB DANNY WOODHEAD

On this morning's practice …

It was more of the same [from Friday]. We just had to install some new stuff on offense. We had to learn some more plays. I think it was good for us.

On people saying he's too small …

It's something that people have said in the past. I've never gotten caught up in it. It's never bothered me. I'm fine with how I am. I'm just going to work hard.

On whether he is motivated to prove doubters wrong …

Not necessarily. I don't know if they're doubters, I think more that's just not their need. I'm going to go out and work hard every single day.

On his skills translating to the NFL …

I'm pleased with going out and working hard. I haven't really been too worried about how I stack up against the other guys because if you think about all the other guys, then you're not going to do well. Plus we're teammates. I don't even worry about them. I'm going to help them out if I can and hopefully they'll help me out. I'm just going out there and doing my best.
