They come out of their bye with little hope of making a playoff run. So why not play young kid, especially at quarterback?Â

My hunch is that Todd Bowles is sticking with Ryan Fitzpatrick only because the Patriots are coming to town. May as well take one more big swing in 2016 before focusing on '17.

Bryce Petty or Ryan Fitzpatrick? Does it even matter who is starting at QB for New York? The 3-7 Jets have a 0.1 percent chance of making the playoffs according to NFL FPI. The Patriots come to town this week, and despite QB Tom Brady's hot streak, it might not be a guaranteed win for New England. The Jets are 4-3 in their past seven home games against the Patriots.

Gang Green won't dip any lower in my power rankings this week. The Jets were on a bye in Week 11.

This was another of our off teams this past weekend, as the bye weeks (slowly) fade away. You always hear how having a young tight end helps a young QB out. Maybe that's a little overblown as a theory, but it sure wouldn't hurt Bryce Petty. Tell you what really hurts: Eric Decker's absence.
