Selected quotes from the Jets' and Saints' locker rooms in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome following the Jets' 31-19 road loss this afternoon:

Jets head coach Todd Bowles on his message to his team after the game..."They are going to keep fighting. Obviously, this is going to turn. I believe that we have a good core group. We just need to eliminate some of the mistakes and some of the situational football things and we will be OK."

Bowles on why he's confident the Jets can "turn"..."We've got fight. I don't worry about how many we lost in a row. I know how we lost and I know why we lost. We are fighting. As long as we've got fight and we correct the small things, we will be fine."

QB Bryce Petty on how his first start of the season went for him..."Shoot, man, I felt comfortable with everything, the new game plan back and forth. There's just certain things you can't miss. You can't miss throws on the outside, things you do on a daily basis that you know you can do. We'll go back and clear stuff up, and I'm excited to get back in there next week."

Petty on having several of his passes batted down at the line of scrimmage..."I don't know. I feel like I'm a little bit taller than their number 9 [Brees], so it's just one of those things. A quick game, that's kind of part of it. Defenses, especially D-lines, they're good at reading that kind of stuff. They watch you. Just little things, from my standpoint, as far as whether you move your head a little bit to the right or left or arm angle, that kind of stuff. Again, it comes with being in there and seeing it."

LT Kelvin Beachum on how Petty handled himself in his first start of the season..."He was comfortable in the huddle. He's always been that way. He was confident when he came in to the huddle. When adversity hit, he didn't blink an eye. You want to have that quarterback give you a chance to win the game. We had ample chances to win, we got into the red zone a number of times. We didn't capitalize with seven like we wanted to."

CB Buster Skrine on the Jets' defense producing three takeaways vs. the Saints, tied for their most in a game this season..."On Wednesday, the first thing we did was turnover drills. We worked on strips and picks all day. And it worked out."

LB Darron Lee on the Jets defense giving up two early scores each of the last two games but coming back strong vs. New Orleans..."Give credit to those guys. They schemed us up pretty well. But we came back and fought and that's all that matters. We have a lot of fight on this team."

CB Morris Claiborne on if the Jets feel they're improving as the season goes on..."I feel like we're getting closer. I feel like as long as we keep preparing and fighting the way we've been fighting, it's going to come together for us."

New Orleans QB Drew Brees on DE Cameron Jordan's ability to bat down passes behind the line..."He's like Dikembe Mutombo playing defensive end. It's pretty awesome. Those are game-changers. Especially the one on the two-point conversion. That was a huge play."
