Selected quotes from the Jets' and Bills' MetLife Stadium locker rooms following the Jets' strong 34-21 Thursday night victory over their division mates:

Head coach Todd Bowles on if it was a relief to finish a victory instead of losing a late lead...
"It wasn't a relief. It was necessary. We've got to do that every week. When we have a lead, we've got to close games out. We did that today."

Bowles on what it says about the Jets' resilience in notching their fourth win after nine games...
"For us, inside the building, we think we should have more, but we didn't play well enough in close games. We don't worry about the outside of the building."

QB Josh McCown on his fourth TD pass of the season and third in three weeks to WR Robby Anderson on the Jets' first drive of the second half...
"It's a lot of pressure on coordinators to try to call the perfect play every time, so the beautiful thing for them is that they give us the freedom at the line that, when you see something, take advantage of it. We had 1-on-1 across the board, and sooner than later people are going to learn, when you press Robby, he wins."

McCown on his 10-yard touchdown scramble to open the scoring...
"I guess, thankfully, this is when your bio comes in handy  and maybe all of them read that I was 38, and they were back, and so I was able to get into the end zone. With each step that you go down the field, you think somebody should be there by now, but I was able to get in. For me, it's just about competing and having fun."

Jets DL Muhammad Wilkerson on challenging his teammates to holding the Bills to less than 70 rushing yards (they had 63)...
"I actually wanted  to tell the group to keep it under 60, but Mike [Pennel] said 80, so we came to a common ground with 70, but we got the job done, so great job to the defense sticking to that challenge and taking it head-on."

Jets LB Jordan Jenkins on the recent stretch of strong games from Wilkerson...
"Mo is one of the leaders on this team. ... Mo after last game brought us all up and said, 'This isn't who we are going to be, this isn't us. We have to keep fighting. We have to stop messing around. And we have to finish.' He is a hell of a leader."

Bills head coach Sean McDermott on if this loss to the Jets was "just one of those games"...
"You're right. This is uncharacteristic of this team to date, the way we've played so far. We've got to learn from it. We got outcoached, we got outplayed, and fundamentally we weren't very good. And then you look at the penalties. Some of those you could call aggressive, a few of them. But other than that, we can't do that and expect to win a game in the NFL. ... No excuses. Give credit to the opponent, to the Jets. They beat us straight up tonight."

Buffalo CB Tre'Davious White on the Bills' defense maybe being out of sync...
"The Jets played a great game. They definitely outplayed us. I picked the wrong night to play the worst game of my life, man. I gave up, what, two touchdowns? The game was 7-10, I gave up a touchdown pass. The next touchdown I gave up, I missed a tackle. It's going to be a long two days for me."

Bills RB LeSean McCoy, who gained 159 yards from scrimmage in the opener vs. the Jets and gained 25 in this game, on the difference in the Jets' defense in both games...
"They beat us down. They were running to the ball fast. They were on their gaps, their routes to the ball. They communicated. Everything we did, they kind of stopped it. So give them a lot of credit. On a short week, they studied hard on film. The big plays we like to run, they took them out."
