The Jets will host rookie minicamp this weekend at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. The 43-man roster comprises the team's seven draft picks, 15 undrafted free agents, 10 first-year players (under contract) and 12 tryout players.
Eight of the 10 first-year players were on the roster last season -- OL Obinna Eze, TE Neal Johnson, TE Zack Kuntz, OL Kohl Levao, QB Adrian Martinez, LB Jackson Sirmon, WR Brandon Smith and CB Tre Swilling. P Austin McNamara and WR Ontaria "Pokey" Wilson signed with the Green & White this offseason.
Among the 12 tryout players this weekend is Miles College LB Giovanni Williams, the younger brother of Jets All-Pro defenders Quinnen and Quincy Williams.
Giovanni Williams played the 2021 and 2022 seasons at Texas A&M-Kingsville before he transferred to Miles College, an HBCU in Alabama, where he finished his remaining two years of eligibility. Williams was a part of a Golden Bears team that won the SIAC Championship in the 2024 season for the first time since 2019. In his collegiate career, he played 28 games, had 100 tackles, 4 sacks and 4 passes defended.
Williams is one of six tryout players on defense. There are four tryouts on offense and two on special teams -- Indiana LS Sean Wracher and South Florida P Andrew Stokes, who is from Perth, Australia.
Stokes, 31, committed to USF in 2020 where he spent the last four seasons. He played Australian Rules Football in Perth while he managed a hospitality and catering warehouse as his day job before coming stateside. He trained with Prokick Australia, which has placed several of its players in college football and then the NFL including Seahawks P Michael Dickson, Texans P Cameron Johnston, 49ers P Mitch Wishnowsky, Saints P Lou Hedley and Bears P Tory Taylor.
Stokes was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award in 2024 after he averaged 45.5 yards per punt with 27 punts inside the 20 and 22 boots of at least 50 yards.
