The New York Jets have signed linebacker Matthias Berning to a reserve/future contract. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Berning (6'0", 236) originally joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent July 28, 2011, spending training camp with the club before being waived Sept. 3. He had two stints on the Jets practice squad in 2011. Berning played in 53 games with 35 starts at Central Michigan, earning All-MAC first-team recognition.
