The Jets have signed fullback Algernon "Algie" Brown and have waived wide receiver Bruce Ellington with a failed-physical designation.

Brown (6'0", 235) was signed as an undrafted free agent out of BYU by Seattle after the April draft and was waived by the Seahawks last week. He played 39 games over four seasons with BYU, amassing 1,310 yards and 13 touchdowns on 259 carries and 285 yards and three more TDs on 35 receptions for his BYU career. Eleven of his rushing scores for the Cougars came in 2015 alone.

Ellington (5'9", 197), acquired on waivers from San Francisco on Friday, spent last season on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury he suffered in the preseason. A fourth-round pick out of South Carolina in 2014, he had 19 receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns in 26 games (no starts) for the 49ers in 2014-15.
