After agreeing to terms to a trade on Feb. 26, the Jets and the Titans made it official with the announcement of a player-for-player swap that will bring T'Vondre Sweat to New York and send Jermaine Johnson to Nashville.
Sweat (6-4, 366) is a massive space-eater who started 12 games for the Titans last season and tallied 34 tackles and 2 sacks. After excelling on the collegiate level at Texas, Sweat was selected by the Titans with the 38th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He appeared in 17 games (16 starts) as a rookie and recorded 51 tackles and 23 QB pressures.
Over five seasons with the Longhorns, Sweat, 24, registered 128 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 14 PD, 2 FR and 1 FF. He captured the 2023 Outland Trophy and was named the 2023 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year while becoming the fifth Texas DT to be a unanimous All-American.
Johnson (6-5, 245) was taken by the Jets with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Coincidentally, they traded up with the Titans to grab Johnson with their third selection in the first round. And in Tennessee, Johnson will reunite with former Jets HC Robert Saleh who has taken over the Titans' reins.
In four seasons with the Jets, Johnson, 27, appeared in 47 games and amassed 131 tackles, 20 TFL and 13 sacks. A Pro Bowler in 2023, Johnson sustained a torn Achilles tendon injury against the Titans in Week 2 of the 2024 season and posted 43 tackles and 3 sacks over 14 games in 2025.
