Aaron Glenn's Jets Kick Off Preseason Schedule Against Packers at Green Bay

Green & White Will Wrap Up Summer Slate 'on the Road' vs. Giants, at Home for Super Bowl Champion Eagles

Preseason-16x9

Aaron Glenn's first preseason as head coach of the New York Jets will kick off this summer on the road against an opponent Glenn became very familiar with in his previous four seasons as Detroit's defensive coordinator, then wrap up with those traditional warm-weather games against the Jets' NFC East foes and neighbors.

Jets at Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field, Saturday, Aug. 9 (8 p.m. ET kickoff), TBA
The Jets' summer schedule opens on a Saturday afternoon in Cheesehead Country. This will be their 10th preseason game against the Packers, with all 10 coming on the road — three in Madison, WI, one in Milwaukee and six, including this year's meeting, at historic Lambeau Field. The Green & White are 3-6 in their first nine summer meetings with the Pack, but they've won two of the last four,

And Glenn will bring his knowledge of competing against the Packers in their home stadium after facing them twice every regular season from 2021-24. The Lions were 6-2 in those eight games, including 3-1 at Lambeau.

As has been the current NFL trend, especially since three-game preseason schedules became the norm in 2021, the Jets' frontline players are likely to play few if any snaps in this game. And the starters will be limited as well in the two games that follow, "at" the Giants and home to host the Super Bowl champion Eagles in their preseason finale.

Jets at New York Giants, MetLife Stadium, Saturday, Aug. 16 (7 p.m. kickoff), WCBS
The Jets will be the road team against the Giants at MetLife Stadium the following Saturday night, and there remains at least a theoretical possibility that the Jets' Justin Fields and the Giants' Russell Wilson, both of whom were QBs with the Steelers last season, could get a few snaps against the other's defense in this one.

The Jets have won the last four games in their summer series with Big Blue and are 29-25-1 all-time. This is the NFL's most renewed preseason rivalry, with the teams meeting every summer since 1969 with the exception of the 2020 COVID season when the NFL canceled all preseason games.

Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles, MetLife Stadium, Friday, Aug. 22 (7:30 p.m. kickoff), WCBS
The August wrapup will pit the Jets and Eagles at MetLife on Friday night, Aug. 22, for the familiar foes' first meeting in the past three summers. From 1985-2022, the teams that wear the different shades of green met each year except 2000 and the aforementioned summer of '20. The Jets lead the preseason series 26-16-1, which includes a 5-3-1 mark in their last nine games.

The teams' most recent meeting was a 24-21 Jets victory to open the '22 preseason schedule. In that game, WR Garrett Wilson had his first two game receptions as a Jet and TE Jeremy Ruckert had a 1-yard TD catch as the Jets overcame a 14-3 halftime deficit in Philadelphia.
