Griffin Joins Ganaway as Bears in the Fold

Make that a pair of Bears that are in the Jets' den.

Former Baylor guard Robert Griffin — or, as he sometimes answers to, "Big Griff" or "RGII" — has signed his contract to join the Jets, one day after his Bears teammate and fellow Jets sixth-round draft pick, RB Terrance Ganaway, signed his deal to become a Jet. The announcement was made today by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Griffin, the 6'6". 330-pound lineman who frequently blocked for Robert Griffin III (who was of course the second pick of April's draft by the Redskins), was taken with the 203rd pick of the draft, one spot behind Ganaway. Those two sixth-round picks were the Jets' first two compensatory selections since they took Eric Smith in the third round of the 2006 draft.

Griffin is not only a large man but has a large sincerity about him that should do him well as he attempts to make the Jets' 2012 roster. "I think the Jets liked my quickness, my size, my attitude, the way I hustled around, the way I helped out my teammates," Griffin said. "What I want to bring to this team is help them get better. This team is already good. I want to add to it."
