After the uncertainty that comes with an offseason regime change, Jets HC Aaron Glenn met with second-year RB Braelon Allen and expressed his confidence in the bruising young back.

"The first meeting I had with him, he said I trust you and I believe in you," Allen told team reporter Caroline Hendershot. "He said he was impressed with what he saw last year, and I think that's all that I need to hear. As long as they know what I can do, I know those opportunities are going to come and it's on me to make the most of them."

A fourth-round pick (No. 134 overall) out of Wisconsin in the 2024 NFL Draft, Allen (6-1, 235) rushed for 334 yards on 92 attempts (3.6 per) and 2 TDs in his rookie campaign. He also averaged 8.7 yards on his 19 receptions with 1 TD, totaling 482 yards from scrimmage and 5.5 yds/touch. Entering his second professional campaign, Allen is eager to help in multiple facets.

"I think I just want to make my impact felt in every way that I can," Allen said. "Obviously playing special teams, hopefully the dose of offense increases more and more, and I just try to do my part the best I can."

The Jets have a talented trio in the backfield with Breece Hall atop the depth chart and Allen joined by another stellar sophomore in Isaiah Davis.

"The first thing they're big, physical, men, and even though this is not a physical camp, you just see the way they run," Glenn said. "All of them have low pad level. Breece and Braelon, man, they can really, really run. I'm not just talking about just as a runner, but as far as speed down the field, you see that with them, and I'm excited about all three of those guys, I really am. I don't know if there are three backs in this League that have the potential like these three, and maybe there is, but I know I'm just focusing on what we have, and I'm excited about the guys that we have here."

The Jets will rely more on their ground game this season after registering a league-low 363 attempts while finishing 31st in rushing with 1,561 yards. Hall had 266 touches for 1,359 yards while Allen (111) and Davis combined (39) for 140 touches and 731 yards.

"I think they're all three going to play," said OC Tanner Engstrand. "Those top three guys, they're all pretty darn good football players, and they all have a little bit of a different skill set you can see just by watching them. And so we'll see, we'll see how the gameplan goes, but they'll all be involved in one way, shape, or form."

Glenn has repeatedly said he wants tough, physical, violent players who are resilient and his RB stable fits the mold.

"We're definitely going to be violent, we're all big, physical guys and we know that's our power, that's our strengths," Allen said. "Obviously, everybody kind of has their own secret sauce and when you combine that physicality with those special talents that we all have – it can be very dangerous and excited to put in on display."

A short-yardage sensation, Allen converted all nine third-and-1's he had last season. His 334 rushing yards were the most in a season by any NFL back under the age of 21 since at least 1973 and his 482 scrimmage yards were the most by any NFL back that young since '73. The 21-year-old Allen is looking forward to bringing some more physicality to the table in Year 2.

"I just really want to hone in on my superpower, which is being a downhill, physical runner," he said. "And by the time those first couple of series are over, I want to make sure people don't want to tackle me anymore."
