The New York Jets have signed free agent tight end Ben Hartsock. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Hartsock (6'4", 270) was released by Atlanta on Tuesday. He was signed by the Falcons on March 2, 2008 and started in 11 games last season with three receptions for 26 yards. Prior to that, he was with Tennessee from 2006-07, playing in 24 games for the Titans. He entered the NFL as a third-round pick (68th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2004 NFL Draft. In his NFL career Hartsock has 27 receptions for 273 yards (10.1 average) in 56 games.

While at Ohio State, Hartsock was part of the Buckeyes' 2002 national championship team.
