Justin McCareins and Generation Jets Academy
The New York Jets, in conjunction with the New York Mercantile Exchange Charitable Foundation and National Communications Group, hosted a private viewing of the Disney movie "Invincible" for more than 200 students from the Generation Jets Academy.
Wide receiver Justin McCareins, cornerback Drew Coleman and safety Jamie Thompson were on hand to view the movie with the students.
Prior to the film screening, McCareins, Coleman and Thompson spoke with the students about the importance of education and about the values and positive messages that they could learn from the movie.
"Whether becoming a professional football player or a doctor or a police officer is your dream, the message of this movie is to never give up because dreams do come true," said McCareins. "I am proud to be here today to deliver that message to these students. With hard work, you can achieve your goals."
"Regal Entertainment Group is proud to be working with a number of NFL teams to provide private showings of Walt Disney Pictures INVINCIBLE to local youth organizations," said Dick Westerling, Regal Entertainment Group Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide this entertainment experience to some of the youth groups in the communities in which we live and operate."
The Jets are one of 11 teams taking part in "NFL Day at the Movies with the Regal Entertainment Group" from Sept. 12 through Sept. 26.
Since its inception in 2002, Generation Jets Academy's primary goal is to provide elementary school students with enjoyable learning experiences that enhance their literacy, math skills, creativity, community awareness and self-esteem.
