Jets Name Greg Manos Coach of the Week

The New York Jets announced today that Greg Manos of St. Joseph-by-the-Sea High School in Staten Island, NY has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program, and he will be presented with a plaque from the New York Jets.

In its eleventh year, the award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Coach Manos is in fourth season as head coach of the Vikings. Prior to St. Joe's, Manos was part of the coaching staff that led Tottenville High School to the Public School Athletic League Championship in 1997. Manos coached Cleveland Browns Offensive Linemen Joe Andruzzi and Chicago Bear defensive end Adewale Ogunleye at Tottenville High School, also located in Staten Island. Manos, St. Joe's Class of '85, is currently the assistant athletic director in addition to being the school's head coach. St. Joe's is part of the Catholic High School Football League's AAA Division.

Last weekend, the Vikings defeated the Monsignor Farrell Lions 28-21 to improve their record to 2-1. St. Joes will face the St. Anthony Friars at home on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
