The New York Jets announced today that Dan Ricci of Ossining High School in Ossining, NY has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award. For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program, and he will be presented with a plaque from the New York Jets.
In its eleventh year, the award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.
Coach Ricci is in third season as head coach of the Riverhawks. Under his direction, the Riverhawks have steadily improved their record and made a trip to the playoffs last year. Ricci, Ossining Class of '83, has worked in numerous capacities at the school for nineteen years and is currently the athletic coordinator in addition to being the head coach. Ossining High School is part of the New York State Section 1, Class A League.
Last weekend, the Riverhawks defeated the Nyack 13-7 to improve their record to 2-0. Ossining faced the Beacon Bulldogs at home on Thursday night and defeated Beacon 44 – 22.
