Jets Name Bill Broggy Coach of the Week

The New York Jets announced today that Bill Broggy of Fox Lane High School in Bedford, NY has been named this week's recipient of the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award.  For his efforts, he will receive $1,000 to benefit the school's football program, and he will be presented with a plaque from the New York Jets.

In its eleventh year, the award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Coach Broggy, a resident of Danbury, Conn., is in his nineteenth season as head coach, the last eight years with the Fox Lane Foxes. He holds an overall record of 100-72-2.Fox Lane High School is part of the New York State Section 1, Class A League. Under the leadership of Broggy, the Foxes captured consecutive sectional titles in 1997 and 1998. In 1997, Broggy led his team to a state championship.

Last weekend, the Foxes defeated the Somer Tuskers 25-20 to give Broggy his 100th career victory. Fox Lane will face the Beacon Bulldogs at home on Saturday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m.
